Erik Jones and the No. 43 have had a lackluster of a 2023 campaign. The news that he was given an L1 Penalty from NASCAR does not help that case.
Erik Jones and the No. 43 team will be docked 60 points and 5 playoff points in a result of this penalty.
Crew Chief Dave Elenz will be suspended for the next two NASCAR point paying events and fined $75,000.
The No. 43 Legacy Motor Club team was given this penalty due to a greenhouse modification found in post race inspection. NASCAR doesn't allow modification of the parts as it can give an aerodynamical advantage.
Erik Jones now sits 30th in the NASCAR Cup Series drivers standings. Jones will have to win to make the 2023 NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs.
