Denny Hamlin has lost his appeal against NASCAR to receive his 25 points and $50,000 fine back after being penalized for admitting to intentionally wrecking Ross Chastain at Phoenix Raceway.
Hamlin was fined for admitting to wrecking Chastain on his podcast, Actions Detrimental.
Hamlin was originally not going to appeal the penalty, then on second thought he announced he decided to on Twitter.
"After much consideration I’ve decided that I will appeal the decision by NASCAR to penalize me. What happened on Sunday was common hard racing that happens each and every weekend. There was also no manipulation of the race nor actions detrimental to the sport."
On Thursday afternoon, we received word that Hamlin lost the appeal, and it will be upheld.
With the penalty still in effect, Hamlin sits 11th in the driver point standings.
